Ida Pearl Marcum
Jenkins
Born September 29, 1887 in Durant,
OK and
died March 1, 1971 in Sulpher, OK
Ida Pearl was raised by her Uncle
Henry Marcum
after the death of her parents in 1892.
She married Jim Jenkins in Coalgate,
Ok on October 14, 1906
and they had 8 children
Her father James A. (Jim) Marcum
is buried in the
Gardner Cemetery,
near Silo, OK, Bryan County.
Also buried there is her baby brother
James and her
Grandmother, Mahala Asher Marcum.
Mahala had made Application
for Citizenship in the Indian Nation as Cherokee Indian in 1896
and lists all of her children and grandchildren at that time including
Ida Pearl.
I suspect her mother Mary Melissa
Caudill/Cordell is buried there also but is
not verified at this time.
Both her parents died of TB around
1892
Her brother James born March 6, 1889 died May 2, 1891
Besides her brother James she had two sisters,
Mildie Marcum and
Amanda
Jane (Janie) Marcum Rhyne. Janie is buried in the Bethal
Cemetery
near Wardville, OK, Atoka Co. along side her infant son, Andie
Ida
Pearl is buried in the Coalgate
Cemetery along side her husband Jim Jenkins
Also see her Obituary. I have
a copy of her death certificate and some type of SS-5.
Her death certificate lists cause of death at age 83 as Coronary Occlusion. The
informant was her daughter Viola Roberts. There is a mistake on the
death certificate, it should have the father of Ida Pearl listed as
Jim Marcum but is listed as Jim Jenkins
Dunn Funeral Home of Sulpher, OK, Murray Co. was used
She lived for many years next door to her daughter Viola in Sulpher,
OK
