Wade Hampton Long was born about 1824 in Alabama and died about 1900 near Mantachie, Itawamba Co., MS.

He was the son of George Long.

Wade first married Nancy Jane Coleman September 24, 1846 in Pontotoc Co., MS.

They had five children: George W. Long - b. about 1848, MS
James Long - b. about 1850, MS
David H. "Dave" Long - b. about 1856, MS

His second wife is believed to be Mary C. Edwards - married October 28, 1860 in Pontotoc Co., MS.

They had six children: Mary C. Long - b. about 1862, MS

John Wesley Long - b. January 16, 1868 in MS

The third wife of Wade Hampton Long was Frances Hobson. They were married February 9, 1882 in Union Co., MS, and had one daughter, Bessey Long.

According to Alta Long (his granddaughter), Wade Hampton Long was a religious man and died on his way home from a prayer meeting, possibly of a heart attack. Villa Long (his granddaughter) stated that Wade Hampton Long was a soldier in the Spanish/American War. This has not been substantiated.
