Joseph E. "Joe" Long, of Wynnewood, passed away Thursday, November
13, 2003
at Pauls Valley General Hospital in Pauls Valley, Ok at 71 years of age.
He was born October 20, 1932 in Dutton, Oklahoma to Paul and Olive (McDowell)
Long.
Joe is a 1951 graduate of Norman High School. He furthered his education
by attending Oklahoma State University.
On August 7, 1954 Joseph E. Long married Nola Starkey in Spur, Texas.
For 49 years the Walker Community has been their home where he was a Cattleman
and a Rancher. Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He loved his family, working his cattle and land and his sweets. He was
an avid supporter of the F. F. A. and the surrounding community and was
a member of Walker Baptist Church.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Helen Lee Long.
Surviving family include: his wife of 49 years, Nola, of the home; five
children, Paula Wittrock and her husband, Joe; Roxann Zum Mallen and her
husband, Rick and Clifton Long, all of Okarche; Charley Long and his wife,
Lee Ann, of Pauls Valley; Mary Jo West and her husband, James, of Birmingham,
Alabama; one brother, Ralph Long and his wife, Billie, of Oklahoma City;
ten grandchildren, Jason Wittrock and his wife, Jeanne and Jeff Wittrock
and his wife, Heather, all of Kingfisher; Jonathan Staley and his wife,
Heather and Jessica Staley, all of Moore; Lindsey Power, of Ada; Jake,
Abby and Molly Long, all of Pauls Valley and Jami Jo and Remi West, both
of Birmingham, Alabama; eight great-grandchildren, Macy, Noah and Garrett
Wittrock; Hayden, Hannah and Hunter Wittrock and Jeremy and Jared Staley;
as well as his mother-in-law, Bessie Starkey, of Flomot, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2003 at 2:00 PM at
the
First Baptist Church of Pauls Valley, officiated by Rev. Mike Muse.
Interment will be at the Lewis Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home of
Pauls Valley.
