The story I have been told by Kathy Lynch is that one hot summer night Sam and Janie were sleeping on the screened in porch. Someone came up to the house late that night and Janie got up to go into the house. She ran into the pot bellied stove and went into labor. The baby was born and she died the next day.
Andie lived a couple more weeks.

Family Notes:
Mahala Asher Marcum was Cherokee Indian. Her application for citizenship is on file at NARA and she is buried in Bryan Co. OK/Gardner Cemetery along side son James A. and grandson James.
Ida Pearl Marcum Jenkins is buried in Coalgate Cemetery, Coal Co.
