| 1913 Newspaper clipping Gone to Rest. Mr. Alonzo Gatlin departed this life December 24th at 6:30 o'clock in the evening, aged 79 years, 1 month. Brother Gatlin professed faith in Christ about 28 years ago, but never joined any church, yet he lived a Christian Life. He leaves his wife and a large family of children and grandchildren, and a host of friends to mourn our loss. But we sorrow not as those who have no hope, knowing our loss is his gain. We have lost a kind friend, and the family an affectionate and kind husband and father, but he has gained eternal rest. His wife and children, except two, are good, live Christians and lay their sorrows on the great Burden-bearer. The writer sympathizes with the bereaved. F.M. Cheek |
