MARY FRANCES "FANNIE" SMITH

Mary Frances "Fannie" Smith was born March 8, 1853 in Harris Co., GA. She was the daughter of Owen H. Smith and Nancy Caroline Poer. She married James Henderson Sands January 20, 1881 in Harris Co., Georgia. Fannie died August 12, 1927 in Five Points, Chambers Co., Alabama.

James Henderson Sands was the son of Thomas Barham Sands and Winnifred Smith. James was born August 22, 1845 in Harris Co., Georgia and died April 25, 1918 in Five Points, Chambers Co., Alabama. 

James enlisted in the Confederate States Army in Jan 1864 and surrendered in Greensboro N.C. April 26, 1865. There is no indication of James being wounded or captured in the available records.
In the 1900 census James is shown as being married to Mary Francis Smith. In the 1910 census James and Mary were living in Chambers Co., Al.

"Fannie" and James are buried at Five Points Cemetery, Chambers Co., AL.
