SIMEON SMITH
Simeon Smith and Levina (Perry) Smith
According to the 1850
Federal Census of Harris Co., Georgia, Simeon Smith was born about 1785 in
Maryland. He married Levina Perry October 19, 1819 in Jasper Co., GA. Levina was
born about 1790 in South Carolina, according to the same census.
There are early records of a
Simeon Smith in Harris County, but I cannot verify at this time if it is in fact
the same Simeon Smith. I suspect that this is our Simeon,
as his son, Reverend Owen H. Smith, married the sister of William S.
Poer.

In the 1860 Census, Simeon and
Levina's son, John G., lived next door #817, and their son William is listed
below John #816 (house number a misprint by census taker?)
I have not found Simeon and Levina
on the 1870 census, so it is my assumption that both had passed away by that
time.
Simeon and Levina had four children that we can document:
Owen H.
Smith
William
"Billy" Robert Smith
John G. Smith
Lavina Perry
Smith
Simeon and Levina are both buried
in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Harris Co., GA. Death dates unknown.
