BIRDIE LURA WHITTEN

Birdie Lura Whitten was born January 24, 1902 in Paris, Lamar Co., Texas. She was the daughter of D.W. Whitten and Margaret Anne "Annie Mae" Diggs. Birdie died October 12, 1983 in Chickasha, Grady Co., Oklahoma and is buried at the Greenhill Cemetery, Lindsay, Garvin Co., Oklahoma.

Birdie Lura Whitten married (1) Jackson "Jack" Thomas Smith June 18, 1921 in Gracemont, Caddo Co., Oklahoma. "Jack" was the son of James L. Smith and Laura Jane Huitt. "Jack" was born March 31, 1904 in Duncan, Stephens Co., Oklahoma and died May 25, 1952 at his home in Chickasha, Grady Co., Oklahoma.

Birdie and Jack lived near Gracemont, Caddo Co., Oklahoma until at least October of 1922. By September of 1928 they had moved near Chillicothe, Hardeman Co., Texas. According to Jack's obituary, they lived in Ninnekah, Grady Co., Oklahoma from 1937 to 1944, then moved to Chickasha, Grady Co., Oklahoma.

Birdie married (2) Walter Louis DaVoult in the early 1950's - Probably in Chickasha, Grady Co., Oklahoma. Walter was born December 2, 1895 in Oklahoma and died in October of 1978 in Chickasha, Grady Co., Oklahoma. He is buried in the Greenhill Cemetery, Lindsay, Garvin Co., Oklahoma. There were no children from this union.
